Have you heard of The Basketball Tournament? It's OK if you haven't. Here's a quick rundown.
It's a 5-on-5, single-elimination tournament. This year, 64 teams are competing for the winner-take-all $2-million top prize.
After watching some of the action over the weekend, a familiar face popped up on my screen: former BGSU star Nate Miller. Before joining a squad made up of mostly ex-OSU players - known as The Scarlet and Gray - Miller competed overseas for most of his professional career in Israel and, most recently, South Korea. You can read more about Miller's post-BGSU life here.
Miller's averaging about 16 minutes off the bench as he and former Buckeye, Aaron Craft, pressure the ball at the top of the key. After The Scarlet and Gray's quarterfinal win on Sunday, Miller and company are only two wins away from cashing in on the $2-million top prize. The semifinals are August 1 in Baltimore, Maryland and televised on ESPN (7 / 9 p.m. EST).
The Springfield News-Sun caught up with Miller before the tournament started.
